Guerrilla Girls Artist Lecture w/ Käthe Kollwitz
Guerrilla Girl Käthe Kollwitz will give a talk and present on the work of the Guerrilla Girls, an all-female artist collective who assume the names of dead women artists, and wear gorilla masks in public to conceal their true identities.
Sponsored by Eva Carlston Academy
Guerrilla Girls are an all female artist collective who assume the names of dead women artists, and wear gorilla masks in public to conceal their true identities and focus on the issues rather than their personalities. They use facts, humor, and outrageous visuals to expose gender, racial, and ethnic bias, as well as corruption in art, politics, film, and pop culture. They travel the world, talking about these issues and their experiences as feminist masked avengers, reinventing the “f” word into the 21st century.
Over 100 posters and large-scale reproductions of works by the Guerrilla Girls are currently on exhibition at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in the Main Gallery presented by Diane & Sam Stewart. The exhibition is on view through June 6, 2020.
