Some songs, albums, and live performances are simply timeless. Since their early roots in 1988—playing house parties at Louisiana State University—Better Than Ezra have carved out a lasting place in modern rock. From their 1995 #1 hit “Good” to Taylor Swift’s 2010 cover of the Better Than Ezra classic “Breathless,” the band’s influence has remained undeniable. In 2025, Better Than Ezra celebrated 30 years of their breakthrough debut album Deluxe with a sold-out hometown show at the Fillmore New Orleans—a full-circle moment honoring the record that helped define alternative rock in the ’90s, including songs like “Good,” “In the Blood,” and “Rosealia. Named one of Billboard’s “100 Greatest Alternative Artists of All Time,” and still evolving, Better Than Ezra spent 2024 releasing their tenth studio album, Super Magick, and headlining major tours—proof that their music and live shows remain as vital as ever.

Joining them is Vertical Horizon, a band built on a commitment to superior music and the artistically creative high road. At the center is founder, writer, lead singer, and guitarist Matt Scannell, who continues to drive the band forward with a relentless spirit of exploration and authenticity. With the freedom of operating outside major-label constraints, Vertical Horizon’s music today comes from what Scannell calls “the purest place”—guided by one question: Does it mean something to us?

Vertical Horizon rose to massive success in 1999 with Everything You Want—a multi-platinum album whose title track hit #1 and became the most played single of 2000. Fans also know them for unforgettable radio staples like “You’re a God” and “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning).” 

And rounding out the night is Tonic, bringing their signature mix of raw emotion and explosive rock energy, including massive hits like “If You Could Only See” and “You Wanted More.”
